7:50am- 8:00am Welcome
8:15am- 9:15am The many roles of the MSP: Understanding how to look at your work through a different lens.
Within the role of the Medical Staff Services Professional, we often find ourselves interacting with others throughout the health system, such as legal services, risk management, and patient safety to name a few. This interactive session will teach us not only how to work with our trusted colleagues, but how to view the work that we are doing through their lens in order to create strong partnerships and a cross functional team that adds value to our system, our patients and our own professional development.
9:15am- 9:45am Break
9:45am-11:15am Innovation in Times of Crisis
During the pandemic we have all found ourselves innovating the way we do our work, whether it is rapid changes to regulations or figuring out how to conduct our day-to-day business virtually, we have had to make major changes in a short amount of time. This session will give you the tools to keep track of these changes, and a system to evaluate and continuously improve upon them for whatever may come our way.
11:30am- 1:00pm Lunch and Presentation of Excellence in Service Award
1:00pm- 2:00pm Updates from the Kansas Board of Nursing
Updates regarding the new Kansas legislation for Nurse Practitioners and how they can practice in Kansas.
2:00pm- 2:15pm Break
2:15pm- 3:45pm Foreign Medical Graduates
Foreign Medical Graduates offer a critical service to the US Healthcare System, but with various pathways to practice it can be confusing for Medical Services Professionals to fully understand what may or may not be needed in the credentialing and privileging process. This presentation will give an overview of the various foreign medical graduate training programs and entry processes and review local requirements, as well as policy and procedure best practices.
4:00pm- 5:00pm Transforming the Medical Staff Office using LEAN Process Improvement Methodology
Healthcare is rapidly changing with an environment of doing less with more, and the Medical Staff Services profession is no exception. LEAN process improvement methodology gives users the tools to rapidly identify and remove wastes within day-to-day processes. Creating a systematic process to garner, implement and track new ideas for process improvement is key to creating the LEAN culture that will be taught within this session.

9:30am- 11:00am Negligent Credentialing – What are the risks?
As Medical Staff Professionals we are aware of the threat of negligent credentialing claims, but what are the real risks and what can we do to mitigate them?
